This was a collaborative project for my Publication Design class, where I worked alongside Katherine and Nicole to write, illustrate, and design a children’s book focused on accessibility in sports. My primary role was to write the story and work on the book layout alongside Nicole. After researching adaptive sports, I discovered how archery can be practiced by people without an arm using specialized tools, especially a release brace. This inspired the core of our story.
With Halloween approaching, we chose to feature monster characters to add a fun, seasonal twist. While Nicole and I developed the story, Katherine began creating the illustrations.
We brought all the elements together to produce a cohesive, engaging book, which we printed as the final project. It was a rewarding experience collaborating across writing, design, and illustration to highlight an important message in a creative way.
